Canon PIXMA TS8120 Printer Reviews– Almost any one-of-a-kind inkjet printer (AIO) can produce respectable photos, and if you want an AIO closer to a true photo printer, even if you should give up some advanced AIO features? What you need is a specialized AIO, designed for photos and text documents. This is the niche Canon Pixma MG8120 is designed to fill. Think of it as an inkjet photo printer that also doubles as an AIO, unlike a more typical AIO that also doubles as a photo printer. For basic business purposes, the MG8120 is more than adequate and is even capable of two-sided printing. For repetitive tasks such as bulk shipments and the printing of unaccompanied envelopes, it would be better to have a model that has more robust AIO features, but this $ 299 model would otherwise be suitable for a home, a home office or a small office printer.
The graphic capabilities of the MG8120 are its great strength, especially considering the quality of printing and the projected longevity of your photos. It features a six-cartridge ink system for accurate color output, a high-resolution LCD screen, and the ability to scan 35mm slides and even negative footage. The drawbacks reflect the characteristics typically found in business-oriented AIOs. The paper output tray has only 50 sheets of paper. You can not handle printing more than one envelope at a time. And while it is faster than previous Canon AIO models when printing photos, the MG8120 is slower than the average AIO when printing text documents.
This model has a sleek and modern look. The glossy black finish, rounded edges, and relatively low profile make for a good visual setting for a work area at home or a modern office environment. A distinctive metallic color bar in front of the printer helps you find and lift the document cover. It also makes it slightly harder than normal to grasp and extend the paper output tray, which is just below the bar. As with other recent Canon printers, you can close the output tray when it is not needed; If you forget to open it before printing, however, do not worry. It will open automatically by itself before the next printed page arrives. You can also close the rear paper input tray when you do not need it, even if it is not reopened automatically.
The interface on board this printer is one of the best we’ve seen. Combines a 3.5-inch LCD screen with three select buttons and a five-way circular button. The three select buttons are not labeled but work in conjunction with the labels that appear on the LCD. The circular knob rotates to allow you to move quickly through groups of menu options, while several other illuminated buttons illuminate the surrounding black panel to provide task-specific functions. For example, when printing, a large red stop button appears or, when scanning, you can distinguish the Black and Color buttons that are easy to distinguish. These contextual help buttons are especially useful with this printer because Canon packs it with more than the usual number of options.
